The Multipurpose Health Worker (MPHW) course is a paramedical and community health-oriented program designed to prepare students for providing basic healthcare services at the community and primary health level. This course focuses on developing skilled health workers who can assist in disease prevention, health promotion, maternal and child care, and basic medical support.
The curriculum includes both theoretical knowledge and practical training, covering subjects such as community health, basic nursing care, first aid, maternal and child health, nutrition, sanitation, immunization, health education, and primary healthcare services. Special emphasis is given to fieldwork and hands-on training, enabling students to work effectively in rural and urban healthcare settings.
After successful completion of the course, students can work as Multipurpose Health Workers, Community Health Assistants, or Healthcare Support Staff in government and private hospitals, primary health centers (PHCs), community health centers (CHCs), NGOs, clinics, and healthcare projects. The course also provides a strong foundation for further studies in the paramedical and healthcare sector.
